Amboseli, Lake Nakuru & Maasai Mara — 10-Day Kenya Safari

This 10-day safari covers a genuinely comprehensive circuit of Kenya’s finest wildlife destinations, beginning with two full days at Amboseli National Park — famous for its big-tusked elephants set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. From Amboseli, the route continues to Lake Nakuru National Park, home to tree-climbing lions, Rothschild’s giraffes, and both black and white rhinos, before two full days in the Maasai Mara among some of the best big-cat viewing in Kenya.

The itinerary closes with a relaxed stop at Lake Naivasha, the busiest and highest of Kenya’s Rift Valley lakes, and a final evening in Nairobi at the iconic Carnivore Restaurant before departure. Travel throughout is in a private 4×4 land cruiser, priced for groups of 2 to 6 travelers sharing one vehicle.

Trip Highlights

Trip Itinerary

This is where it all begins, where you join us on the first step of our journey together. You'll meet your friendly expert guide, and we'll get the formalities out of the way quickly so we can get out there and start enjoying the safari you've been dreaming of.

Nairobi is a wonderfully dynamic city and your gateway to so much that is good about Kenya — wildlife attractions, museums, and windows onto modern and historical Kenyan life, alongside vibrant shopping, restaurant, and nightlife scenes.

Overnight

Included
Hotel in Nairobi
Nairobi, Kenya

A comfortable base in Nairobi, on a bed and breakfast basis.

You'll be visiting one of the best safari parks in Africa when you come to Amboseli. The park is filled with big-tusked elephants, and Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain at 5,895m, looms over the landscape — a combination that makes for fantastic photos, especially when the clouds clear over the summit around sunrise and sunset.

You also have a good chance of seeing lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest, and plenty of gazelles. The park is also terrific for birding, with 420 species recorded. An evening game drive rounds out the day, when both predators and prey are most active.

Overnight

Included
Amboseli Lodge/Camp
Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Full-board lodge with views toward Mount Kilimanjaro, well placed for game drives.

The day begins just before sunrise, when the park is still cloaked in soft light and a cool breeze sweeps across the plains — one of the best times for wildlife viewing, with elephants on the move, graceful giraffes browsing on acacia trees, and the dramatic silhouette of Kilimanjaro creating a dreamlike scene.

As the sun climbs higher, underground rivers from Kilimanjaro feed lush swamps that stay green year-round, drawing elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and flocks of flamingos. As evening falls, predators like lions and hyenas begin to stir, and herbivores move cautiously toward water for one last drink under a golden sky.

Overnight again at your Amboseli lodge or camp.

You'll be visiting Lake Nakuru National Park, and it's a brilliant park to visit. When it comes to wildlife, there are tree-climbing lions, endangered Rothschild's giraffes, and flamingos in varying numbers on the lake — this is also one of the best parks in Kenya for seeing both black and white rhinos.

It's a beautiful park too, with amazing views from the Out of Africa Lookout, waterfalls, acacia woodlands, and pretty lake panoramas. An evening game drive brings the day to a close, when both predators and prey are most active.

Overnight

Included
Lake Nakuru Lodge/Camp
Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya

Full-board lodge close to the park, well placed for both morning and evening game drives.

A full day at Lake Nakuru is a journey through one of Kenya's most beautifully diverse parks. Starting early, driving through acacia forest and open grasslands as the sun rises over the Rift Valley, you'll likely spot buffalo, impalas, and a tower of giraffes moving gracefully through the morning light.

One of Lake Nakuru's biggest highlights is its incredible birdlife — flocks of flamingos paint the shoreline pink, mingling with pelicans, herons, and storks. It's a birder's paradise, but honestly, even if you're not into birds, it's impossible not to be amazed.

Overnight again at your Lake Nakuru lodge or camp.

You're in for a really special safari experience on your visit to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This is one of the best places in Kenya to look for big cats. You may see so many elephants, giraffe, Thomson's gazelle, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and hippo that you stop noticing them after a while.

Watch for the reserve's population of black rhino, present in the Mara Triangle although they can be pretty hard to spot. Beautiful savannah grasslands, acacia trees, distant escarpments, and more than 500 possible bird species round out the highlights.

Overnight

Included
Maasai Mara Lodge/Camp
Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

Full-board camp within reach of the Mara's open plains and exceptional big-cat viewing.

A full day in the Maasai Mara is like stepping into the pages of National Geographic — everywhere you look, there's life in motion, drama unfolding, and that vast golden savannah stretching endlessly to the horizon. Starting early, you may find yourself tracking a pride of lions finishing up a nighttime hunt.

Herds of wildebeest and zebra move across the plains, grazing peacefully while always keeping an eye out for predators. The Big Five are all here, and the Mara doesn't play hard to get — elephants, buffalo, and even the elusive leopard sometimes show up when you least expect it.

Overnight again at your Maasai Mara lodge or camp.

Lake Naivasha is the busiest and highest of Kenya's Rift Valley lakes. The lake has a fascinating history, once a weekend escape for the wealthy during the colonial era, and today serving a similarly refreshing purpose for a diverse cross-section of Kenyan society.

You'll be dropped at the hotel for lunch and can enjoy the animals within the grounds, or take an optional boat ride to Crescent Island at an additional cost — keep an eye out along the southern shore for hippos, zebras, and giraffes.

Overnight

Included
Lake Naivasha Lodge/Camp
Lake Naivasha, Kenya

Full-board lakeside lodge, a relaxed stop with easy access to the boat jetty.

After an unforgettable safari adventure, you'll make your way back to Nairobi, watching the landscapes shift from wild savannah to the bustling rhythm of the city — the perfect time to reflect on the incredible wildlife encounters and the beauty of Kenya's open skies.

In the evening, you'll head to the iconic Carnivore Restaurant for dinner, a fitting final night out to close a comprehensive Kenya safari circuit.
